Kitchen Respray in Altham, Lancashire

See Amanda’s kitchen transformation in Altham, Lancashire, featuring cabinetry colour-matched to Little Greene Aquamarine Light and tiles resprayed Brilliant White.

Amanda’s traditional kitchen in the village of Altham, near Clayton-le-Moors in Lancashire, had plenty of character and remained in good condition. However, its cream cabinetry and multi-toned tiled splashback had begun to make the room feel darker and more dated than Amanda wanted.

Instead of replacing the existing kitchen, Amanda chose to refresh it through professional respraying. The cabinetry was colour-matched to Little Greene Aquamarine Light, while the existing wall tiles were resprayed in Brilliant White. Both were completed in a practical low-sheen finish.

Retaining the Kitchen’s Traditional Character

The kitchen already had many attractive details, including decorative cornices, framed doors, tongue-and-groove panels, glazed cabinets and open display shelving. These features gave the room a warm, traditional character that Amanda wanted to preserve.

Professional respraying allowed the original cabinetry and distinctive detailing to be retained while introducing a much lighter and fresher colour scheme.

The doors, drawer fronts and fitted cabinetry were carefully prepared before being professionally refinished. Particular attention was given to the moulded profiles and narrow grooves within the doors to ensure a smooth, consistent finish across every surface.

A Fresh Aquamarine Light Finish

Amanda selected a colour matched to Aquamarine Light by Little Greene for the kitchen cabinetry. This delicate pale blue-green introduces a subtle hint of colour while keeping the space feeling bright, calm and welcoming.

The low-sheen finish complements the traditional cabinet style beautifully. It provides a refined appearance without looking overly glossy and allows the detailed door profiles to remain clearly defined.

Aquamarine Light also works particularly well alongside the kitchen’s warm wooden worktops, creating a soft contrast that makes both finishes stand out.

Existing Tiles Resprayed in Brilliant White

The original splashback featured tiles in a mixture of cream, pink and earthy brown shades. Although these had suited the previous cabinetry, they competed with the new colour palette and made the room feel busier.

Rather than removing and replacing the tiles, they were professionally prepared and resprayed in Brilliant White with a low-sheen finish.

The bright white splashback has made a significant difference to the finished room. It reflects the under-cabinet lighting, visually opens the worktop areas and provides a clean backdrop for the Aquamarine Light cabinetry.

A Personal Collection of Colourful Handles

Amanda had collected a wide variety of decorative handles in different shapes, patterns and pastel colours. Rather than choosing one uniform design, she wanted to reintroduce the collection herself and decide where each individual handle should be positioned.

This adds a playful and highly personal detail to the finished kitchen. The mix of floral, patterned and coloured handles works beautifully against the soft blue-green cabinetry and reflects the individual character of Amanda’s home.

Most of the handles were left for Amanda to arrange and fit herself. We installed only those that could not be fitted once the doors were back in position, including the handles for the integrated dishwasher and under-counter fridge.

A Brighter, More Individual Kitchen

The completed transformation has retained everything that made Amanda’s kitchen distinctive while giving the entire room a much fresher appearance.

The Aquamarine Light cabinetry introduces gentle colour, the Brilliant White tiles brighten the working areas and the warm wooden worktops prevent the new scheme from feeling cold. Amanda’s collection of handles provides the perfect finishing touch, ensuring the kitchen remains personal and full of character.

It is an excellent example of how an existing kitchen can be completely refreshed without losing its original style or replacing cabinetry that still functions well.

Fantastic job. Very pleased with the results. They company really cares about your job and attention to detail. Would strongly recommend.

Transform Your Existing Kitchen

Amanda’s project demonstrates that a successful kitchen transformation does not need to remove the room’s character. By choosing colours that complement the existing wooden worktops and retaining the traditional cabinetry, we created a brighter and more contemporary space that still feels completely at home in its surroundings.

Professional kitchen and tile respraying can transform an existing room with considerably less disruption than a complete replacement.
